Founded in Milan in 1948, Cinelli combines 75 years of unique performance manufacturing know-how with a tireless creative dissatisfaction to operate outside the rigid categories of traditional racing bicycles, pioneering new ideas of riding and culture.

WHERE IS THE IDEA?
Every time we approach a new project, we have to answer the same question: where is the idea? We want all products to communicate our values, both technical and cultural.We apply Design principles to everything we work on. Design is not just “looks”. Design means first project, outline, technology, technique, materials, innovation, creativeness, function, quality, uniqueness, know-how, emotion. Shape.

MILANO ATTITUDE
Cinelli’s roots are deeply planted in Milan. Europe’s capital of design, fashion and culture, Milan is a privileged point of view through which we look at the world. Our vocation is global, our outlook is international, but it is thanks to the dialogue with Milan that we are able to bring the values of the New Cycling into our products.

In Cinelli we love to ride. Whether it’s racing bike, a gravel, or an adventure one. Whether it’s an evening ride, a long one, or a trip, every time we can we jump on the saddle. Because we are addicted to that unique pleasure that only the bicycle can give you. And it is this kind of excitement that we want to talk about, always.

Cinelli’s goal is simple: to make a(nother) rider happy. Every day we work to drive in this direction all our products, our communication, our way of being. We’re happy to do so, because we believe that there is nothing more beautiful than sharing with someone else the joy of riding a bicycle.


History
Cinelli’s history can be divided into three key periods:

1948-1979 CINELLI PERIOD
Cino Cinelli period – this period is characterized by the deveolpmentof an extraordinary manufacturing know-how and processes acrossvarious product categories, from components to saddles to pedalsto bicycles. This is still the backbone of how we approach the performance characteristics of all our products today. Between 1948-1979 Cino Cinelli made Cinelli a global by-word for the highest quality and the finest Italian engineering and performance design.

1979-1990s ART & DESIGN PERIOD
Antonio Colombo’s acquisition of the company in 1979 coincided with explosion of the Milanese design revolution and the brand’s first direct interactions with creatives, most potently symbolized by its new logo designed by Milan design legend Italo Lupi: the first modernist logo in the history of cycling. During these years Cinelli learnt to collaborate with artists, dreamers and troublemakers to create products that combined exquisite industrial manufacturing with the emotional intelligence of art. Creativity transforms the Cinelli design process and makes it capable of designing industry paradigm shifting products such as Cork Ribbon, the Spinaci handlebar and arguably the mosticonic Italian bike ever designed, the Cinelli Laser.

2000-2020 (SUB)CULTURAL PERIOD
In the 2000s Cinelli’s unique combination of manufacturing excellence and artistic creativity, saw it transformed into a brandcultural significance. Thanks to the brand’s adoption by (and its ownactive collaboration with) urban subcultures such as the fixed-gear movement, the values of Cinelli (creativity, manufacturing excellence) evolved into an iconic URBAN SYMBOL. By becoming an urban value, Cinelli opened the door to becoming the world’s first performance cycling brand whose products could contain broader social values. The Cinelli cycling cap, the world’s best-selling cycling cap, is a unique symbol of the transformation of the brand into an urban symbol and active participant in the creation of urban culture
